Why the 2018 AMG S63 is NOT worth the wait or money

I am comparing the changes to the new 2018 Mercedes AMG S63 vs the currently model, the 2017 S63 while cruising in the 2016 AMG S63 to give you an update in the New 2018 S63.

Although there are some significant new changes, it is not worth the wait for new Sedan or the Cash to buy it brand new. Economically, it doesn't make sense. That's just my two cents.

Got something to say? Leave me a comment.

I came back here to just say.. I bought a fully loaded 2015 s63 AMG… I used to watch your videos on the car wondering when I’d have my own.. I love it.. God bless you all

you are talking about $150k i am more then sure people with that deep pocket don't care about the fuel consumption. Specially with an AMG sticker.

I have a 2016 as well. Because of the added autonomous features, I think I am going with the 2018, I'm also thinking about going to the S65 for the magic body control.

When you buy a car like this gas mileage should not be a concern.

I got one like you but it's 2014 and it's fully loaded
I will save myself some one and I will only Chang the headlights and backlights I think that's all I need to make it look like 2018 👍🏼

mad man. throw that dated garbage in the trash and upgrade. the new s63 is far superior.. its faster, better transmission, way way way better TECH. lastly though subjective, BETTER LOOKING. its worth every cent.

In my opinion the biggest change is with the engine and transmission. Everything else is minimal or a refresh not significant at all.

I have a couple questions if I may.... What is the price of the 2018? How do we know it is not worth the money if we do not know the price. Would not this video have more merit if you were driving the the 2018? You did not tell us the release date so what is the wait? Could the higher price have anything to do with the year (new 2018) and not so much on on comparing it to a used 2016?

So you have yet to drive this unreleased car but can already say it is not worth the wait/price? Did this knowledge on why it is not worth it come to you in a dream? When you say they have yet to give "us" the starting price yet. Just who is us? Are you pregnant? Do you have a mouse in your pocket?

Is seems a little bias that you are telling people to stick with the 2016. Oddly enough which is what you are driving. Why are you so anti Mercedes (unless it is the one you own)? Do you not see the irony there? One more

Cars & Technology: Could you please expand on your background? Are you an editor for Car & Driver? Maybe Motor Trend? Is that what you meant by they have not told "us"?

For the record it is NOT the same screen. There is no middle divider anymore. It is MUCH improved over the cheap looking screen in the older models. Going from a 3 spoke steering wheel instead of the 2 spoke does not change how comfortable it is. You failed to mention how many more ambient light settings there will be. You left out the many more interior color choices there will be. This makes it more competitive with Bentley. But of course when you are telling people why it is NOT worth the time/money. Why would you mention all the changes. We can just buy the boring black on black 2016 you have and be smart consumers like you are.

Economically, would not the Ford Focus be a better buy? Because when I think of Mercedes buyers lol I think of people who are focused on lower priced cars! Talk about things that you know & leave Mercedes alone!!!

I get you are proud of your new car & want to show it off. Why not just make a "2016 AMG S63 Review" video & leave it alone? Nobody would question your motives. You are giving an honest opinion of something you bought/own. At the same time showing off your car. These other unfounded videos to show it off are just insane.

You completely looked over the new 4 matic + awd system which improved handling drastically for the full size sedan.

I don't like the new headlights, in my opinion, the previous version did look so much better.

He says “you won’t expect to find any new features however there are significant improvements and changes” what?!

Your title is misleading. In the video you said "should I get the new 2018 or stick to one of these 2016-2017 models". The answer is simple:
If you own already 2015-2017 models then its not worth upgrading to 2018 models. But if you're going to buy an S-class and you don't have the current model then it's worth the wait and get the refreshed 2018 model. You get a new designed sedan not normally seen on roads as 2013-2017 S-class. So in logical factor it worth the wait. Unless you want to save money then buy a used semi new 2016-2017 models. You will save more and its not worth to pay for a new 2017 S-class because the design is already outdated no one will notice it's new car!

I’m considering buying an s63 and I was wondering as a s63 owner do you consider them to be a good reliable car. I’m looking to purchase a 2018 or 2019.
