Twitter Recommendation Algorithm Source Code Released

Twitter has released a portion of its source code for public review, including the algorithm it employs to recommend tweets in users' timelines, as CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly promised.

Twitter shared two GitHub repositories with the code for many of the components that make the social network function, including the system it employs to decide which tweets users see on the For You timeline. Twitter described the action as a "first step to being more transparent," while also "preventing risk" to both Twitter and users of the platform.
