Man you are first even before the Unreal Engine twitter account. TBH asset quality is diminishing in the Epic marketplace, is slowly turning into what happened to Steam. I am now looking for my assets on CGtrader.

I have first visited the Marketplace some two years back and it's hard not to notice the drop in quality of assets. For some reason the permanently collection does not show newest items first (I guess it is sorted by date of creation rather than date of adding to the collection).

Just wondering if UE5 Editor works faster or slower than UE4 Editor on your PC? My experience: it's slower than UE4 and quite often it's buggy.

They do need a better way to filter, maybe a user rating sort, or a quality feedback that can then be used as a sort.

Whenever a sale happens, I always go to the last page and go back to front. Yes, the store is filled with garbage now, but all the quality assets seem to be all the way in the back.

the third person story adventure template looks like it's exactly Life is Strange, and I love those games, so I'm excited to try it out!

Unreal really needs to add a way to sort by popularity or rating. Legit interested in checking out the sale, but 10k assets, a lot of them not even a single purchase or rating yet, kinda hard to tell the best stuff.

It's funny because I was sifting through all the "Massive Sale" items a couple days ago, and I started wondering if Gamefromscratch had done any item highlights for it because so much of it just didn't look great. People used to always talk about how Unity's asset store had so much more than Unreal Marketplace, and my response was always something like "yeah, but most of the stuff on Unity's asset store is trash." Now, they're closing the gap; for better, or for worse. On top of that, we're seeing a LOT of stuff that was made for Unity just being dumped on the Unreal Marketplace. Some, like Synty Studios, are really great assets, except they aren't setup correctly for UE. I agree, they shouldn't be quality gatekeepers, but some requirements like a byped character should use the Unreal Maniquin bone structure, or at least be in the correct pose, would go a long way.

Thanks for being on top of these free items. I have a question, I have a lot of tutorials on Udemy that were created on UE4. Do you think those can be completed on UE5 without running into too many issues? As you mentioned, seeing the UI on UE5 makes it really hard to go back to UE4. 😀

I've been getting this stuff for a while but I haven't found a way to easily access a single part that I want to add into my project.. is there any kind of catalog system that I could add stuff into and then drag and drop into any project I'm working on? Like Bridge for my own stuff..
How do big game companies keep track and organize all their assets?

Minor nitpick: Myst is a first-person view game, whereas the story adventure asset is first person. However, there is a first-person version by the same dev in the marketplace... and it was included in a previous batch of free stuff (or at least I assume so -- I already have it and I have never bought anything directly, so there's an outside chance it was in a Humble Bundle).

I've noticed i also. It seems like there's a HUGE amount of garbage being shoveled into the asset store in the past year and prices are getting ridiculous on some stuff.

Recent assets on store are really really feels like made with less efforts, I'm sorry, dont want to hurt the artist but this is what I see.
