It’s time for the biggest showdown in the carpentry industry, Beat The Bully! The concept is simple anyone from the comments either negative or positive is welcome to go head to head with wood bully and see it really is as easy as it looks! 🤌

In this episode we do a Deck Build Off. We have exactly 4 hours and equal piles of lumber and hardware to choose from.

Parameters;
3x3 deck landing 3’ off the ground with guardrails, handrails, custom stairs and skirting.

Big thanks to our special guest judge: Bryan Baeumler from HGTVs Disaster DIY, Leave It To Bryan, Bryan Inc, Island Of Bryan and Renovation Island.

For 4 hours, hats off to both of you. I'd still be arguing with my girlfriend about whether or not I need to put a tarp down or just blow the sawdust off the lawn after.

More competitions like this. I like the independent judge at the end who points out everything that’s wrong. This is a great way to learn and compare techniques.

I appreciate our judge being fairly raw. It's good to hear an honest judge.

I wonder if the bully had an advantage by picking out what the build challenge was going to be and having more time to think about design.

If it makes you guys feel better, at 4 hours I'd still be in the planning stage. 😄

Actually crazy how big of a tv personality and amazingly skilled tradesman Brian is and to be on the small channel is absolutely awesome.

Pretty cool idea. Haven’t read other comments, but if it were me doing this type of challenge I would reach out into the community to see if anyone needs stairs and a landing or what ever your next project is then donate it to the family that needs what your making. Then make a follow on video of you installing it at there house. It’s a win win. A person in need gets a prize and you get more content and accolades/views for your videos. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Great advertisement for the guys company honestly, the fact that he can build THAT in 4 hours and have it look decent at first glance, give him a few days, proper material and hes gonna make a piece of art in your yard

I'm an electrical contractor. I have zero clue how carpenters work their magic. But this was impressive. 4 hours is a very short amount of time. I'm even more impressed by how generally supportive the comments are on here. Good video. Keep it up.

I'm a 3rd generation carpenter, Kudos to both of you. I don't many people that could do that build in 4 hours including me. This was fun to watch, keep them coming.

As a fellow carpenter both guys did a great job in the time they were allotted. As with any trade its great to see how other craftsman tackle things differently, because of that there's always something to learn and always new ways to become better, faster, and more precise. That's part of what makes the trades great. Hard hat off to you guys, great jobs!

Competition is good for all involved, this isn’t easy and we all would like to have a lumber next to entry clients build to solve the lack of materials when they arise, but being able to improvise is critical- they both made it worth watching!

When I was nearly finished with my carpentry apprenticeship I was in a contest at my local union hall, which included a blueprint test, a site layout test, a hands on test to build a Japanese bridge, and a concrete form for a bridge abutment. After that contest I went to the CA state contest. Similar format with different projects. It was a great experience. I was asked to teach apprentices for our local program.

I think for the next challenge the random picked judge should choose what they build so that the wood bully doesn't have a advantage. They should both have access to the same tooling. And not be allowed to see the other guy work, so the work can't be copied or mimicked.

It would be really cool to have an average person who has never built anything out of wood, come on your show and have you teach them how to build a quality deck!! I would love to see that episode. Overall, awesome channel. Just subscribed!

“ I don’t need no hand from a labor” hit home for me lol. The good old days! Happy to say I’m now a journey man carpenter and concrete mason and on my way to getting my c8 license. Let’s get it blue collars !!!

You need to tell people on your shorts you have these build offs. I usually check YouTubers main page for longer videos and that's how I stumbled across this. Remember YouTube doesn't let you click on links in the short vids.

First time I’ve come across this channel. Absolutely fantastic challenge, I would be completely lost. I’m impressed by both builds given the time constraints and on the fly decisions. Thoroughly entertaining, I doubt any of the trolls online take you up in real life

I think for the next challenge, you should both walk in blind as to the challenge, and have to come up with a design on the spot, and use the same tools, and also let loose a polar bear in the shop just to up the intensity a bit, really give it that reality show "vibe".

I love this idea and hope this competitive build off continues. I think this could set a tread with other people to get going.

Champion build off at the end of each year.
