Hey all

This is the first in a series of videos called golden oldies I’m going to make about old or discontinued guitar gear that still has massive relevance and can totally be the right choice for a lot of situations.

I personally think there is too much onus placed in the idea that new gear is inherently better than old gear because if the advance of technology. Good tone is good tone no matter how it’s created.

To start this series I’m going with the Lovepedal Amp 11.

This is a drive and boost pedal that I have always coveted as I’ve been using g a clone of it for many years.

It’s a pretty transparent overdrive that really does deliver the sound of your guitar and amp but dirtier and in a really amp like way.

Combine that with a clean boost for solos and you can’t go wrong.

I purchased mine when I watched Chris Buck put out a video using an older version. It is my always on pedal for the last four years. Great pedal!

I don't see much talk about this pedal anymore but I still always reach for the Amp 11 first, especially for my single coils, and your review clearly demonstrates why it works so well. Sometimes I'll put my J. Rockett Blue Note pedal in front of it because they seem to pair very nicely. For some reason I still don't own a Timmy though.

I believe that is an older version. The more recent versions I believe the boost works on its own. Nice pedal. Nice review.

The hidden gem on this pedal is also the boost side- works amazing as a drive in and of itself!

The pedal sounds great. That Strat however, phenomenal 👌

I think this teal colour small box is the only one to have the boost not working without the overdrive already on. Great playing and great explanation. I'm going to pick one of these up.

This pedal is amazing! Do you use it with 9V DC? I have one but it makes too much noise sometimes...I don't know if it only happens with mine...I love its tone

Great review. No surprise though as you tend to do great reviews of often not well known pedals.

There is one thing, though, and this is about pretty much every pedal review video, not just you. Acoustic string noise. It is difficult to determine the actual sound of the pedal because the room or vocal mic picks up some of the acoustic sound of the guitar. Could the mic audio be ducked from a sidechain signal from the guitar? I know this would affect voice audio too, so it might be more complicated than I am making it out to be.

Keep it up though. Great channel, and good to have Irish voices in the space.

Lovepedal still makes Amp 11 pedals. The new white box version is cool because you can turn on the boost side on the right by itself without turning on the overdrive side on the left. It's a really great sounding effect on its own based on the Lovepedal COT 50.

Sean from lovepedal has a good ear for tweaking circuits. This is just a Tube screamer circuit without an input and output buffer (transistor based buffer). He also has many versions of a one transistor boost with clipping. COT, Champ and Tchula etc are nearly same circuit with minor changes. I think he is great at being able to tune a circuit with minimum number of components.
Edit* I just look up schematics online and its identical to the Timmy circuit with minor value changes.

If I have a cot 50 red brick is this worth trying out? I love the cot50 but wish the volume boost wasn’t so much.
