Harley 2024 SKYLINE OS Infotainment Dash -PAY TO USE IT? 💰 Apple Car Play & Headsets INFO!

Select 2024 Harley Davidson models come with the 12.3 full-color TFT infotainment system and digital dash running on Skyline OS. There is still much to learn about this system coming on select 2024 touring models. For some models, you have to pay a subscription fee to access the embedded GPS maps, traffic, and weather. The system had Apple Car Play, but not Android Auto. You'll need a Harley-Davidson-branded wireless Bluetooth Headset to activate Apple Car Play and for full stereo sound.

Subscription to use tech is a “no sell” for me

To use the GPS maps on a bike that you have already bought is just going to annoy most people to the point that they will 1. Not buy the bike and 2. Slag off the Harley brand. To use the GPS maps should be standard and include the entire screen that you have paid for. However, if you want to buy the weather and traffic (upgrade) then I guess fill your boots. HD seems to forget that it's the small things that piss off people the most and make HD look like they are just out to squeeze every single penny out of you.

Totally ridiculous to have to pay a subscription fee !! You pay enough for these bikes and for them to keep adding these fees is crazy ! I know here in NY the dealerships were charging $5000 on top of the MSRP and blaming Harley Corporate for the charge. That must have been the test to see if the consumer would pay additional fees. I guess my 2019 Trike and 2020 Street Glide Special will be the last new Harleys that I purchase unless the “crazy fees” go away - this just might be the demise of HD - just my thoughts

I heard Gm is switch from carplay to google maps for nav connectivity, is HD behind the 8 ball since Apple is not my 1st choice in navigation? Also a 5g WiFi signal is spotty and mostly in urban areas where I’d rather not ride 😮
I like my gps boombox navigation better since it’s free and pretty reliable.

I just buy a paper map for 10 bux... works great and I'm not a slave to technology and keeps more $$ in my pocket to enjoy riding. Just because we can do something isn't a reason to switch from something that works just fine.

I've been told by my dealer service department that Car Play will ONLY work IF you PURCHASE the HD headset because the Blue tooth works thru the headset to you smart phone. ALSO don't be shocked when you attempt to trade in your current bike for a 2024 only to find it's now worth $3k to $6k less than it was before the reduced price 2024's came out!!

So when I heard this about the subscibtion fee I thought, well i just get a Garman GPS but wait, they took away the accessory socket (cig lighter). I use that GPS alot when I'm on the road and not having it or being forced to pay really sucks. What will it be after $350 for 3 yrs. ? That's already over $100 a yr. and I'm sure it'll be higher at renewal time. I was planning on getting a new RG but now may stay with my 2022 RG Limited, a nice bike with FREE GPS and an outlet. Otherwise I really like the new ones. Could this be a show stopper for other prospective buyers? It is for me.

Why so many features that came with my 2019 Street Glide Limited Ultra CVO missing on 2024 CVO models? I would have to add many accessories just to bring it up to what I have on the 2019 model...

i just paid the subscription at my dealer and got it up and running. havent seen the weather display yet i might have to get closer to big city area i am thinking. will do after the rain stops . giving you an update.

If I had known this earlier, I probably would not have bought my 2024..
My dealership told me that it was completely downloaded will all the programs needed.

Thanks for the heads up on this Ryan. The first time I saw Harley do this was on the Livewire, I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. There's some good information on this over on the "In the Friction Zone" channel. He bought a '23 1/2 CVO and recently found out that his initial free service expires in 3 years and he'll have to pay to renew in '26. Also, he already has trouble with cloud service connectivity, reliability and there are glitches with some functions. He actually says he would not pay for the service after his experiences with it. I'm sure this will also carry over to the Pan America TFT as well from here on out but can't confirm that. I'll be looking for your video from Vegas, keep up the great work!

Harley-Davidson is using HD branded Cardo system now with the 2024 models and no longer the HD branded Sena.
