The cofounder and principal behind the engine, Juan Linietsky, always pronounces it go-dot, like robot (which the mascot is). I think The folks behind Godot took the diplomatic approach since everyone seemed to have their own idea about how to pronounce it. While I have no personal preference, I do like the idea of go-dot (like robot) as in telling a dot, or pixel, to go do something on screen. Nice vid on the topic, it did make me laugh 🤣
