I didn't realise this was based on a true story, and he now lives in my state in Australia.
What a touching story.
But I guess he kind of ruined it for any further exchange programs under Mao's reign.
I'll have to watch it now.

The book is amazing!
Very touching and genuine. Once I finish reading I will watch the film.

Saw the movie. What’s interesting is that in the movie his first wife went through a lot with him. But in all the interviews he never mentioned her. I wondered if for political reasons that he can’t mention her. Or did she not wanted to be mention.
