Interesting little slice of trivia: the crew behind TFA attempted to get Eric Idle to reprise the role for Wreck Gar's introductory episode, but his busy schedule prevented this. So they used Weird Al instead. Fitting since his song Dare To Be Stupid was played during the Junkion scenes in the 86 movie.

In my fanfic Junk was originally a nearby dwarf moon Cybertron's populace used for garbage dumping. The vast accumulation of trash slowly quadrupled it's weight, gradually jostling it lose from orbit around Cybertron's sun. Eventually it drifted several thousand light years away. By 1984, just as it attained orbit with a new star something astonishing happened: the rancid Energon soaked debris reacted to the unusual radiation emanating from the sun overhead, it triggering the formation of Sparks within the metallic refuse which began to twist the rusty detritus into humanoid shapes. The Junkion race was born. Initially they were a crude, barbarous people obsessed with tribal warfare & very little else. Then, another miracle happened, the innumerable cracked monitors littering the planet's surface had combined together into a massive tower of screens. From these tubes the Junkions learned of other worlds such as Cybertron, Microtus, Velocitron, Nebulos, Quintessa, Ijurn & most importantly, to them anyway, Earth. They were instantly enamored with the various movies, TV shows & commercials displayed. They'd watch them so religiously it practically became a religion. Consequently Junkion dialect is a mixture of Cybertronix (Modern Cybertronian) & Terran pop culture quotes and advert tag lines. In 1991 an Autobot cruiser helmed by the Thottlebots crashed onto Junk. Although met with hostility at first Goldbug's crew managed to befriend the natives, even endearing themselves to their ruler Wreck-Gar. His right hand Detritus however distrusted the tiny Autobots, believing them a potential threat to Junkion culture. When the Decepticons Runabout (black), Runamuck (white) & Runaround (grey) arrived in pursuit of the Throttlebots ol' Detritus saw an opportunity to have them removed & lead the thuggish triplets to his village, an act he quickly regretted as they immediately started ransacking every home just for kicks. Teaming up with Wreck-Gar's warriors Goldbug & co defended the settlement, Wreck-Gar himself bifurcating Runaround during the skirmish much to his brothers horror. Runabout & Runamuck retreated with an unconscious Detritus in tow and Wreck-Gar hosted a loud, jovial victory celebration never before seen on Junk. In the years to follow the Autobot military would establish an outpost manned by the Throttlebots, Technobots & Triggerbots and several Junkions would go onto serve in G.W., Junkheap famously becoming one of the mechanics aboard The Ark. Detritus, homeless, was forced to join the Decepticons, but made the most of his situation by using their connections to the intergalactic underworld to start his own business dealing in various illegal substances which, after the Hate Plague Event, ensured a very comfy life for him.
