A channel where we cover all the MOFI news happening. This was a HUGE topic that others have gone into way deeper than I need to. I didn't feel the need to restate what others have already done. So I wanted to sum it up and talk about moving forward.

You can check out all our Mofis in our Audiophile corner.

You can also see all our HUGE amount of new vinyl here.

As long as you have been dealing with MoFi and surely having 'insider' info.. you know MoFi promoted their vinyl as being 100% analog and when questioned about it, denied any digital in the chain.
Don't care about whether digital/analog... I have both..
I care that Music Direct/MoFi LIED so they could sell as many records as possible.
The engineers said in different interviews that ALL MoFi Lps were Analog, on different interviews they denied and said there was NO digital used in any part of the chain.
With the UD1S they said they could only make a limited amount of stampers because of the limited times they could make them... that is how they got caught in this particular lie, because when they advertised 40, 000 Thriller UD1S's, the cat was out of the bag.

Their lying is nothing less than Fraud and Greed... and to do that to your customer base, many loyal who have been buying for tens of years.. I have well over 200 MoFi records and many, many of their CDs and SACDS....I have been a direct customer for over 20 years... I have spent many thousands for equipment from Music Direct.. I have since cancelled over $2000 in pre-orders and will no longer do business because of their Fraud.

Maybe this would bring things in more perspective, especially the included MoFi interview @ 32:05 time mark :

To all the MoFi defenders - the anger was never about MoFi LPs not sounding good, it was always about the lack of transparency, to the point that the wordsmithing from them went to great lengths to avoid admitting DXD. If there was nothing to hide, why not say it at the very start? Why allow this all analog aura to be cultivated? Moreover, now that they have DXD sources, why limit anything and create artificial scarcity, allowing flippers to make a fast buck? How does that help MoFi????

Chad Kassem at Acoustic Sounds (His label Analog Productions) has always been forthcoming about everything being analog. They have decided not to press certain lps because the master tapes were not in good condition. Too bad MoFi was not forthright. I think most people would have been fine from the beginning had they just be honest.

I think some people will stop buying Mofis for a while, then they'll put out one of their favorite albums and they won't be able to resist and they'll buy it. Then they'll start buying them again. I think they'll see a sales dip, then over time it will slowly but surely come back up again.

I still love the Mobile Fidelity product but I'm disappointed with how all of this came out. I'm surprised Mobile Fidelity hasn't put out their own video discussing this issue. I still love Mobile Fidelity and I'm so excited about the new releases coming our way. Perhaps you picked the perfect week to take a vacation. Lol. Have a great weekend.

For MoFi, I think they effectively refer to & depend on the 4xDSD as “The Original Master”, since the resolution of 4xDSD is so exponentially greater than the source 30ips analog tape. Like carefully pouring a pint of liquid into a quart sized container, it’s fully contained without alteration in it’s new container.

It's coverted at 4x DSD, which is 11.2MHz 1bit audio. DXD is 384kHz 24bit PCM. Just clarifying for anyone that cares.

P.S. I wish MoFi would sell the DSD files. I bet they sound spectacular.

I am a little disappointed because we (The VC) assumed these releases were cut from the Master Tapes. Mofi’s marketing material led us all to believe there was nothing digital in the entire master chain from start to the finished product. It’s about how their products were marketed to us, not the quality of the product. Thanks Nick.

I don’t care about the source. The prices most go down no more Mofi for me. And I have some more on my way! That’s sad

Mofi puts the DSD logo on their SACD's, it's interesting they never did that with the vinyl, makes you wonder why.

I wonder if the secondary market prices will come down a bit on these.

Hey, let’s take a DSD box down to all these record companies and rip files, than we will charge money like we did an all analog cut. What could go wrong?

Hey Nick, you mentioned there weren't any new releases but this week The Eagles - On The Border and One Of These Nights were released on SACD.

I still will buy mofi SACD's but highly unlikely that I'll be getting the vinyl primarily the one step pressings that demand a premium price point

MoFi-Gate. I was wondering what your take was going to be on this. Bottom line, it doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the One Steps I already have. Looking forward to the new One Steps coming out!

I definitely enjoy watching your Mofi minute videos. As long as Mofi continues to put out good sounding recordings I keep on buying them.

My issue isn't analog vs digital. It's the deceitful why Mofi chose to market themselves. I'll still continue to buy Mofi but my view of them has been diminished.

I preordered that T.Rex directly from Mofi’s website back in November but it hasn’t shipped yet. I figured I’d be getting a shipping notification since it went back on sale recently. I think I will contact them to check on it.

Digital has been in the chain since the 1980's. Not much can be done about it now. It's a part of the process.
