I love at first that Carl just really wanted to catch Frank but he didn’t understand why he did what he did, it wasn’t until later that he saw he was just a kid who was running because he was scared by the fact that he felt that he was going to have to betray one of the two people he loved more than anything, the people who raised him.

Frank get away to proof that he is not a failure of a broken family, and Carl want to catch Frank to proof that he is also not a failure who couldnt keep his family. In a way they are both running from their truth, their reality. But in the end they stop running and start believing again.

As much as I love the idea that the guy who caught him gave him a second chance at life (and effectively became the father figure that I wish Frank should've gotten), the real Frank Abagnale working for the FBI was likely a complete fabrication. Much of this movie might even be a big con in itself.

However, it seems Frank is now living a more legitimate life (I hope?), and I hope he and his family are doing well.
