If this doesn't send a shiver through your whole body you're probably already dead

This is one of the best live performances of a song that I've ever seen.

This is my first time listening to this song, and is already an instant classic. Is one of those songs like Maps, Everlong, 1979, All My Friends, Seasons, Ceremony etc, that I will be listening to it for years to come.

2:52 - 3:15
That is some of the most powerful singing I have ever heard/seen. So much power and yet, it’s still so fucking emotional and vulnerable. Sharon Van Etten could possibly end up becoming a truly once in a lifetime talent. She is magnificent.

The guy with glasses, behind the girl with a hat, crying and screaming at 3:23 is my spirit animal if I'd have been there.

At 1:30 she squats down, peers into the audience. "I see you so uncomfortably alone."
Then she raises her own hand. There's something about the vulnerability of that

I'm crying, my heart is in knots, it's so gut wrenching for a 38 year old formerly 17 year old girl.

That "I know what you're gonna be" gave me the chills. Every time. Shes my new obsession.👏

This is incredible. I’ve watched it multiple times a day for days now. It was already my song of 2019 and this takes it to another level.
I’ll be honest I’m not an emotional man but this songs gets to me. It’s just fantastic. And from around 2:50-3:15 of this performance - goosebumps. Amazing!

I know what you wanna say
I think that you're all the same
Constantly being led astray
You think you know something you don't

Downtown hotspot halfway up the street
I used to be free, I used to be seventeen
Follow my shadow around your corner
I used to be seventeen, now you're just like me

Down beneath the ashes and the stone
Sure of what I've lived and have known
I see you so uncomfortably alone
I wish I could show you how much you've grown

Downtown hotspot used to be on this street
I used to be seventeen, I used to be seventeen
Now you're a hotshot hanging on my block
Sun coming up, who's my shadow?

La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la

I know what you're gonna be
I know that you're gonna be
You'll crumble it up just to see
Afraid that you'll be just like me

Downtown hotspot halfway through this life
I used to feel free, or was it just a dream?
Now you're a hotshot, think you're so carefree
But you're just seventeen, so much like me
You're just seventeen, you're just seventeen
Seventeen

This struck a chord... 24 years ago, I was stood in a field watching The Cure headlining the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. I'm 41.

I was there - this was f**king amazing on every level - performance, band, sound, lighting and visuals worked with the music and not OTT. Best thing I saw all weekend. Can't believe I only found out about her a few months back when 6Music played this track.

I get tears in my eyes every time she hits the emotional peak. Every time. She a hero of mine. An adult woman. Not some silly girl thrown up to the top of the pop charts by executives who don't even like music.
