Matte Painting and Compositing showreel

Hello Ajay.  This is a nice start  and a good effort.  Your composition is good. There are several significant issues with the lighting.  Many of your elements in both shots have light sources coming from different directions, which makes the image feel as though it has been composited together from different elements (which it has, but it shouldn't feel that way).  In shot 1, you have chosen to add fog and an atmospheric feel to the piece, so the light should have a softer, more diffused feel, however most of the elements still have a direct, high-contrast light to them which is not appropriate to the environment you have created.  The undersides of the floating elements are nearly black, yet there is fog and other major indirect light sources below which should add significant illumination to the underside of the floating elements.  note how the centre element has light coming from the top, however the element on the right of frame has light coming in from the left.  The midground elements have light coming from the back and the background elements have light coming from the front.   The puffy fog you have added is the same value in the foreground midground and background, however the contrast on this element should decrease with distance.   The fog is a slightly purple colour, yet it is theoretically being lit by the sky, which has more green in it than red.  The fog colour or the sky colour do not match the composition.   In shot2, again the elements have light coming from several different directions, none of which is the direction of the sun that you add on the horizon behind everything.  Pay close attention to the direction and diffuse quality of light on all your elements otherwise your matte painting will never feel real.  I hope this has been helpful.  Don't be disheartened by these notes, think of them as a learning opportunity and help from an industry veteran to make your work better and improve your skills.  Good Luck!

nice so far. But next time use less fog. It's too strong. And do less camera movement. It really gives the projection away. Just a smaller movement.
