Dow Jones industrial average closes above 22,000 for first time

美다우지수…'22,000 고지'도 뚫었다, KOSPI는 2% 하락

It was an historic day on Wall Street.
The Dow Jones industrial average broke through 22-thousand for the first time on Wednesday... backed by a sharp rise in shares of Apple.
The Dow added about a quarter-of-a-percent to close at 22-thousand-and-16.
Apple gained nearly five percent after it posted stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings.
The S&P 500 was up less than a tenth of a percent at just over 24-77, while the Nasdaq closed flat at 6,362-point-six.
It was a difference story here in Korea.
The benchmark KOSPI fell 2 percent to close at around 23-87 on a massive selling spree by foreigners and institutions.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also closed lower at 643.
The local currency weakened against the U.S. dollar, ending the day at 1,128.8.
