I Bought a FAKE Nintendo DS Lite... Here we go again!

So I bought another console from Wish... they have a lot of Nintendo consoles. I bought a Nintendo DS Lite this time - the black and red version. It's pretty interesting that they're selling these consoles as brand new... so we'll see what we get. Check out my Fake Wii video if you haven't already (also bought that console from Wish).

Is this Nintendo DS Lite brand new like the seller says??
Also, the authentic version of this Pokemon game sells for $90+ on eBay lol

The third party shell does not make it fake imo. It's real alright, just been reshelled. Love the fact they threw in the fake Pokémon though

7:00 if it is a re shelled Nintendo DS Lite, don't call it a "FAKE" in the name of the video, just call it re shelled, I mean come on.. Fake is not re shelled. That is not the same thing. If it is re shelled then call it re shelled.

At least while re-shelled it seems like the software is the same, making it an actual DS, and it's in a nice state. At least the touch-screen isn't full of scratches from what I can tell. All in all, could've been a worse buy in my opinion.

The Console: Reshelled
This guy: Yep it's absolutely fake, absolutely

Everyone in the comments is saying completely wrong things.

The DS has the internals of a real DS console, but the plastic shell was just replaced with an aftermarket one, just like the Wii you got. Looks like they replaced the digitizer and also maybe the LCD screens.

To tell if GBA pokemon games are real, check the back and look through the opaque plastic. On the top left, real copies have four golden rectangles/squares on the pcb. Looking at 2:28 in the video, you have all these dots you can see through the shell, but no golden squares on top left. Also, the stickers on the front of real copies have a stamped two-digit number that is embossed physically into the paper, slightly off to the right and easily visible with a raking light.

I've seen some comments saying you can tell its real by checking if the PCB says Nintendo above the gold contacts but a lot of fakes nowadays put that there to fool uninformed kids. FireRed and LeafGreen do not have internal batteries, RSE have internal batteries that are easily seen from the front, just behind the sticker.

Most reproduction fake copies also have a weird message when you boot them up. Once you get passed the "PRESS START" menu, you'll get a message saying something along the lines of "the game can now be saved". Real copies never have that message, even in RSE if the battery runs dry (you get a different message). Hopefully you see this and it helps.

This guy is literally just finding ways to say the ds is fake for a video

Technically not a "fake DS", the mainboard is from an actual DS, which makes it a legit Nintendo game console, just with a third party new outer shell.

They likely did this because the original DS shell is in bad shape, or its Frankenstein from multiple DS.

The Pokemon cartridge is fake. On the front of the cartridge, the "GAME BOY ADVANCE" text at the top will be wider and textured on the authentic cartridge, and narrower and smooth on the counterfeit cartridge. The cartridge in the video has the narrower text. An authentic Nintendo GBA cartridge will have four rectangles on the PCB on the back side in the upper left corner (with the edge connector fingers pointing down) - visible with a transparent cartridge shell. The cartridge in the video lacks those four rectangles.

Technically it is a real DS lite just a new shell

Fun fact: The serial number on this DS lite CJF100781731 is actually for a 3DS, not a DS lite. Specifically an original Japanese non-XL.
The serial numbers are actually encoded to the model of the console they're assigned to, so it's really obvious to me when they don't match.

Title: “Fake DS lite”
Actual video: “this was reshelled”
Dawg you could’ve at least put fake in quotations like come on

I don't know if anyone noticed but the mic cut out isn't even a clean rectangle lmao.

You probably overpaid a bit but it's not bad overall. They sell NDS cards with microSD slots in them. That's probably what would have come with the other bundles.

the download feature isn't actually downloading stuff, it's a sort of connection that happens when you're right next to someone, and if they just so happen to be playing a game, you can click that button and play with em

Fun fact, if you look above the gold pins on the gba card it will say Nintendo above those pins if it is authentic.

As far as I know those chinese DS are refurb (reshelled) they sell them on Ali Express (properly advertised)

honestly i think this is just a really good refurb/reshell. the battery is a nonissue, and in fact, is probably a good thing -- these handhelds were released in June of 2006. A battery that old is a hazard. Also, the fact that the seller took the time to put to protect the screens/top from scratches via film is great.

all in all, a decent buy.

i do think the pokemon cart is fake, but i'd need a better look at it to be 100% sure. im like 95% there tho

It also seems like the top screen is a bit thicker on the fake DS lite.
