Some of the best tv shows & movies of my younger years. Towering Inferno still holds up to this day.

Continueing from my missing initially written detailed response...😢 Mr. Irwin Allen became my original mentor in my quest to become a producer on September 21, 1966. I have the original letter from Twentieth Century-Fox Television, Inc. Century-Fox with his personal recommendations to follow in my pursuit. Which I achieved through the course of my own 41-year career within the local Phoenix television broadcasting from 1972-2013. Where I actually was the Editor for TV Syndication of Irwin Allen shows: Lost in Space and Voyage To The BOTTOM Of The Sea. I hope I made him proud! Thank you, MR. ALLEN, I AM Forever Grateful. RIP 😢 Dennis Fleurant, Phoenix AZ.

My playground in 1966 was the Fox lot. My dad was a SFX guy, and worked on all of Irwin's shows. For the next few years my summers were spent on the sets of Voyage, Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, etc.
What a fun time for a kid!
All the cast members were nice people.
I got in the industry, and sometimes worked with Irwin's son Rick later in the 90s.

I miss disaster movies with star-studded casts full of people like Ida Lupino.

As a kid, I used to watch Irwin Allen’s TV shows in the mid to late 1960s:
— Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea 1964-1968
— Lost in Space 1965-1968
— The Time Tunnel 1966-1967
— Land of the Giants 1968-1970

one thing that wasn't mentioned was the scores for Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure and several TV series composed by John Williams.

I had corresponded with June Lockhart, Billy Mumy, Angela Cartright(who I had a crush on, we were just one year apart!), and
Jonathan Harris who At age 15 I connected with him via long distance phone call on the LIS Sound Stage at 20th Century Fox long distance from my home in Massachusetts! Such fond memories😊

Why is it impossible to imagine a producer of a film has seen it 100times? They have to, in order to make sure everything worked out.

Sad about Towering Inferno; we've seen it happen - e.g. horrendous Grenfell Tower fire 2017, London UK. Earthquakes, tsunamis etc. all occur too. Entertainment made flesh, so to speak😢🥺

June Lockhart, sigh... And Billy Mummy, sigh... but for a different reason!

Steve McQueen was a pain in the ass during the filming ofTowering Inferno because he insisted that he had to have more lines than Paul Newman.

The guy on the right at 0:07 is Billy Mumy who played Smith on Lost in Space and the woman is Veronica Cartright who played his mother.

Irwin Allen was one of my childhood heroes.
It was only later I discovered what a total asshole he was.

“Five Weeks In A Balloon” wasn’t “inspired” by Jules Verne—it WAS Jules Verne. And Irwin Allen botched an otherwise fine novel.

Was this made in the 80s or 90s? I wish you tubers would put dates to their uploads.
