They should make a documentary film about the “Night Witches “!

They also turned off their engines and glided to the target so the Germans couldn't hear them coming.

The night witches would stop the engine and put the aircraft into a shallow dive, therefore being completely unexpected, and make the whooshing noise.

My Great grandma Svetlana Chernavski was a Night Witch. She used to say stalling her engine during her raids made her feel petrified, powerful, vengeful, and the freest of the free all at once. But more than anything, like a real witch. Of course some of these feelings couldn't be expressed until forty years later.

Now this is what you call a strong female character.

First, if anyone wants to know about the Night Witches, I highly recommend the band Sabaton and their song, "Night Witches."

What is missing is more of the story.

First, the 588th Night Bombing Regiment, the Night Witches, would shut off their engines as they approached their targets. The Germans heard "whoosing" because of the cloth coverings of the wings, making them sound like witches on brooms -- hence, the name "Night Witches."

23 Night Witches received the medal Hero of the Soviet Union.

After the war, Yavdokiya Reshkavich, the unit's Commissar, served in the Russian military until 1956. At which point, she went out and found every place where her girls had gone down and crashed. To ensure that her girls and their families received the honors and benefits they were due, she recorded each crash site to make a record, along with paying her respects to her girls, who, during the war, ranged in age from 17 to 26. As a result, she created what is perhaps the most accurate record of any World War II unit, of any nation who fought.

The last Night Witch died in 2017. Thus, their story is now truly history.

So many amazing historical figures out there and Hollywood waste their time and resources rewriting what was already done

I love that. If only a movie or series could come out of this. That will be beautiful

Kudos to the creators. I subscribed a while ago to this channel and I have noticed these guys put a lot of time and effort into their videos instead of pumping them out and try to get as much money as possible. Respect 👏
