Did some research. about 500k hoverboards were identified as having defective battery packs and marked for recall. 267k of those being from the "Swagway X1" model... There had been a few hundred incidents of them catching fire before they started recalling them.

I'd like to argue in defense of hoverboarding in general here... 500k out of the estimated 3 MILLION sold (2015-16) is not bad. Especially when you take into account that ONE company was responsible for half of it... And they charged 500 dollars for that thing...
