Literally there are so many mattress firms around where I live.

When we finally threw out my old mattress last year, I had discovered that it was made in 99, it was about 22 years old at the end of it’s life and it was a very comfortable mattress.

I used to work in IT at Mattress Firm. Before that I worked in Accounts payable for a company that MF purchased and I handled the invoices from the mattress manufactures (Sealy, Sterns and Foster, etc).

I can confirm what you say is largely true. Most stores would average 1-4 sales on weekdays and 5-10 on weekends. Each sale was between $1-5k, depending on the bed purchased. Each store had 2-4 staff, (more at bigger stores) so it's not hard to see how only a couple sales a day can keep things rolling. I think the average annual sales per store was around $1m.

I have literally never in my life seen someone shipping out a bed from the mattress firm I walk by almost every day. So I don't think they are selling one a day. And a mattress is not something you just decide to buy because you drove past a mattress store, so I do not believe that more stores=more sales, and there like 4 near me.
