One of the most easily understandable documentaries about hinduism on youtube (from an outsider perspective)

Thank you for posting such an enlightening series of videos. I myself am Catholic, but I often find myself discontent with the occasional teachings of the faith I was born into. I find more promising and satisfactory answers in Hinduism, such as whether or not God can come to all people within different forms. Believe it or not, I actually ended up coming to the question and conclusion myself before I even started learning about Hinduism in my religion class.

I am learning so much from this! I had no idea that the statues were considered the actual physical bodies of the deities and are conscious within them!!! That is so kewl! I'm so used to thinking of statues of gods and goddesses as symbols, but when he said, "They're not merely symbols, " it really caught my attention. I felt awakened in some way!!! I'm not Hindu but Wiccan, so I also have a great appreciation for variety in culture and religion: this is so refreshing and joyous to my soul!!!

An excellent presentation of the essence of Hinduism that can be understood and appreciated by all. The vast and varied theology of the religion has been well presented in a cogent and logical manner.
Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this. Although I am not a Hindu I believe that it is important to know and understand all the beliefs of the world.

Ah excellent, another wonderful religion. I would say that I follow a predominantly Buddhist path, though I am eager to study and incorporate different beliefs into my general view. I must say that your reason for turning away from Hinduism is indeed a good one, perhaps the best I've heard. Many people turn away due to deeply engrained 'bitterness' regarding polytheism or anything like it. It is a very moral reason in your case, which I greatly admire. :D

I completely agree. I have been non-religious for a while, because I could not believe in a Hell, or an ever-loving God that could do that kind of thing. I would love to study Hinduism further.

I still highly recommend the aforementioned book, it may actually be more relevant from a Buddhist perspective. There is a comparison to the Tibetan Book of the Dead and the similarities are uncanny! Absolutely remarkable how similar they are. I find this interesting because the validity of "Life After Life" almost inherently validates atleast the first stages depicted in the Book of the Dead. This leads me to believe that the rest of said book is equally accurate. Both are great reads IMO.

I just have one question: If I am a catholic, but I have come to my individually made conclusions on philosophy such as the idea that God comes too all in multiple forms, can I technically be considered a Hindu? I ask this because, if I understand correctly, technically all people exploring spirituality are Hindu, though I'm not absolutely sure because I'm not vegetarian and don't necessarily believe in some of Hinduism's core concepts such as Karma.

Anytime :)
I'm not sure how broad in spectrum your interests are, but I found "Journeys Out of the Body" by Robert Monroe to be quite relevant and with a fairly scientific approach. Also, a man by the name of Bruce Greyson did alot of studies on reincarnation if you're interested in that, mostly involving children. Free PDFs are probably available but I can't guarantee that lol. Enjoy :D

I have actually ended up converting to Buddhism, so take that how you will. I could not in good conscious be a Hindu, when Dharma has hurt so many people, just because they were born outcastes.

@Echowraith Good luck and Blessed Be on your path! I hope it brings you great joy and fulfillment. :)

@Echowraith Studying is one thing, conversion is another. True Hindu spirituality would actually suggest that you 'convert' from one form into a better form - if you are Christian, 'convert' into a better Christian.
