Scuba Diving Equipment For Beginners | Deep Dive

We’re going to look at what you need as a beginner diver, and what’s good or best for you to invest in and why. As with most hobbies, you can go nuts and buy all of the gear when you first start out if you want to but you don’t really need to. I mean, I read the results from a survey a few years back and apparently 1% of Instructors asked didn’t even own their own mask, which was a bit of a shock to me, and I presume there was a 1% discrepancy in their results because I struggle to believe that there are Instructors out there that don’t have their own mask.

I bought my own gear after the first pool session (2002). I knew I'd keep diving and knowing my OWN gear was important, so I bought everything except weights and tanks (I've since bought weights, but never a tank). Knowing I could dive with an Air Integrated computer and with integrated weights were important to me. I've taken good care of it all, always cleaning, and always serviced regularly. It's all still in great operation. I upgraded my Aeris Atmos Ai with a Shearwater Perdix a couple years ago, and ScubaPro did a warranty replacement of my KnightHawk a few years ago (woot, replaced with a brand new BC) but my ScubaPro regs (MK25/S600) and fins (Twin Jets) still work like new. The moral: take good care of your scuba gear and buy good gear: it's an investment in both your sport and your life, but an investment that can last you a long time.

Hi, I first bought maks, boots and fins. Some months later came the rest of the gear. No regrets at all!
My main concern was about traveling and my gead just do it very well!

I'm getting into scuba diving. I've been freediving for some time but I went diving with some friends and loved it. What are some good bcd and regulator brands to look into? I'm always driving here and there to freedive. I highly doubt that will change with scuba. So something somewhat compact would be best. If you could point me in the right direction. That would be awesome. I love the content

I have the MK1 dive light and somehow I got it to strobe but I don't know how I did it. I know to turn it on is 2 clicks...each click thereafter is the intensity...and hold to turn it off. Other than than...I don't know how to access other functions. Can you give me a tip or point me to instructions? Thank you.

I just got certified recently 😄 my first piece of equipment was mask and fins. I'm now looking into getting a wetsuit and a dive computer 😄 I plan on doing alot of diving, so should I invest in a nicer color screen now since I know I may want one down the line anyways?

Hi guys! I'm well into my second year as a scuba diver and since last year I've been acquiring all my gear. Since I live in the Portuguese mainland but I'm a regular traveler to the Azores I'm currently considering all the options in the market for packing and travelling with my kit. I'm a bit at a lost considering between a rigid case, a roller bag or a duffle bag... or maybe a Teric even??? there seem to be pros and cons on every type of bag, either being weight, handling, security or protection of the gear inside. Could you guys discuss this topic a bit? #askmark
