This is so funny. I saw it on the live stream and I thought video must be lagging between them as Anish kept repeating himself. Then later I saw the Hikaru clip and now seeing this clip again it's so hilarious. Wonder how many people like me totally didn't get it at the time!

Am I correct that it's just a Hikaru mannerism? He seems to do it a lot. Both Hikaru and Anish are so entertaining. I hope one of them makes it to contesting the world title one day (or has one of them already? I haven't followed chess that closely for long)

What he's making fun of, is how Hikaru seeks validation from others, not only from his daddy Magnus, but also from his chat and completely random people, and in general thinks in terms of validation as a resource.
He's kinda like Elon Musk of chess in that regard
