Two people have died following separate attacks at Notting Hill Carnival over the bank holiday weekend.

Cher Maximen, 32, was at the event with her child last Sunday when she was stabbed.

She passed away on Saturday morning. Police reported that officers provided emergency care until paramedics arrived, after which Ms. Maximen was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Mussie Imnetu, a top chef visiting the UK on business, was attacked in a separate incident.

The 41-year-old, a Swedish national living and working in Dubai, was found unconscious with a head injury in Queensway on Monday evening. He had an eight-year-old son.

Alex Phillips speaks with former met police officer, Peter Kirkham.

That is not a carnival but a ruckus venue for those whose sense of freedom is twisted by this idea of liberalism and freedom. Those who know their rights but not their responsibilities. This points to the fact that the education system of the UK is hardly working towards holistic development of individuals who are have basic human values of morality, care and responsibility.

If they can’t be law abiding then just ban it

*Currently the UK has no single official national day, * although the King's Official Birthday is used for this purpose in some contexts. Both the UK and Denmark are the only two countries in the world to not have an official national day.
However, here is why I believe St Alban's Day (22 June) would be a more suitable candidate (I also believe that St George's Day should be made a bank holiday in England, St David's Day should be made a Welsh bank holiday, and St Pirans Day should be the same for Cornwall). Saint Alban represents several important ideals and themes in both religious and cultural contexts:

*1. Martyrdom*
*- First British Martyr:* Saint Alban is recognized as the first recorded martyr in the British Isles, symbolizing the sacrifice made for one's faith. His willingness to face death rather than renounce his beliefs serves as a powerful example of courage and conviction.

*2. Faith and Conversion*
*- Influence of Christianity:* His story reflects the spread of Christianity in Britain during the early centuries. Alban’s conversion from paganism to Christianity highlights the transformative power of faith.

*3. Courage and Integrity*
*- Standing Up for Beliefs:* Alban's defiance against persecution illustrates the importance of standing firm in one’s beliefs, even in the face of danger. This theme resonates across various cultures and religions.

*4. Cultural Heritage*
*- Symbol of British Identity:* As a historical figure, Saint Alban contributes to the cultural and religious heritage of Britain. His legacy is celebrated in various ways, emphasizing national identity and continuity.

*5. Community and Compassion*
*- Acts of Kindness:* According to tradition, Alban sheltered a Christian priest, demonstrating compassion and hospitality. This aspect of his story underscores the values of kindness and support for others in need.

*Conclusion*
Saint Alban represents martyrdom, faith, courage, and compassion, serving as an enduring symbol of the Christian legacy in Britain and the broader themes of standing up for one’s beliefs.

Tell me what you all think. Should Saint Alban's Day be made a British/UK national day?

Will SadIQ Khan resign or at least withdraw his comments about the carnival being such a great event.

Just bloody ban it. The knife crime there is ridiculous.
FYI I only went once back in 93, walking along with 3 women when - Bang! A local non white lad walks into the woman nearly knocking her over, l rushed to her aid ... told him to eff off, the lad stood there menacingly joined by about 6-8 mates, l square up about to swing & l notice one of em part his jacket, no t- shirt with a bloody machete... he places his hand on its handle looking at me " WALK ON GIRL'S ".

It’s utter nonsense- how many arrests, stabbings or any other crime for that matter was recorded after the British Grand Prix, which 480, 000 attended.

So don’t tell me there’s an acceptable level of expected crime!

Diversity is our strength, Windrush legacy, innit? Peter must be a graduate of the Police Academy. Millions go to football games every weekend, how many murders, stabbings or assaults?
