Antelope Audio presents Orion32+ | Thunderbolt meets Orion32

Orion32+ is Antelope Audio's 32-channel AD/DA with Thunderbolt™ and USB, it needs 1U rack space and is a successor to the world's first 32-channel converter.

Following the incredible tradition of the original Orion32, presented just 3 years ago, Orion32+ is here to once again break the expectations of what a 1U rack device could offer. The USB interface is now accompanied by Thunderbolt™ with extremely low latency allowing simultaneous I/O streaming of 32 channels of 24-bit, 192 kHz audio. All that without defeating Power Management in the Mac OS, meaning letting you maintain low fan noise on your MacBook Pro while recording.

Orion32+ is easily operated through its user-friendly, OS X and Windows compatible software panel. It features integrated AFX such as AuraVerb – our first software reverb of hardware quality. The app also allows you to save and load custom presets. With an improved dynamic range Orion32+ is a next generation audio interface, which can fully live up to the ever-changing needs of the contemporary recording studio.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Antelope Audio Support Team.
Unfortunately there are still issues with El Capitan. If you experience any we would not be able to do much. Therefore I would not recommend the usage of El Capitan for now.

Best Regards,
Antelope Support Team

What about those who have the old one???? No upgrades? No effects in the control panel?

Will there be any updates for the Orion 32? Like adding the compressors and reverbs in the control panel?

I'm not in need of the DSP-processing. Maybe should settle for the regular Orion 32. Though thunderbolt would be pretty sweet.

Ferrofish is coming out with a new 32 channel ADAT AD/DA converter that I was interested in before I read about the new Orion 32+. They are both about the same price but now I don't have to buy an expensive ADAT PCI card for my computer like the RME RayDat... I can just use Thunderbolt to my MacBook Pro. I like Ferrofish / creamware converters too, I own their old ones but it's time to dump ADAT.

I've never been comfortable with USB for audio streaming even if it's been souped up like on the original Orion 32. When I saw the original Orion 32 I thought it was a really good value for the channel count but figured there would be a version with thunderbolt coming soon.... and I was right !!!

I don't know why thunderbolt wasn't on the original, the only thing I can think of is that the cost of putting a thunderbolt interface on the original would have made the price too high... I had read that thunderbolt was having a hard time being adopted by audio device manufactures because the cost of the onboard controller / chip was so high that it would make the product less marketable because of the price. I guess the price is coming down. To the guy complaining that he can't get an upgrade for his original unit.... Does your original Orion32 still work? If so than what are you complaining about? You paid your money for a product that you knew what its capabilities are. USB wasn't enough
