I heard about this in seminary along time ago. It was summarize in my text at the time as follows, God could not be emotionally moved to a point where he would contradict a previous decision or His nature. So, I thought to myself wow I remember in the Bible Moses changing God’s mind—see Exodus 32:11-14. Unfortunately like many theological assertions this one in particular limits God. The christian concept of God is a paradox because He is both Just and Merciful. What a theologian often does with a biblical text as provided is say that it is an anthropomorphism. The problem in Christianity is that God comes before man and Man is made in the image of God and therefore has attributes that parallel with Gods. So I think God is an extremely emotional being with Amazing self control. And I do believe He is very upset with the human race and cannot wait for the day of judgment...yet at the same time wishes that His creation would have a relationship with Him. The strength of the Christian God is that He is a living God and He is not simple.
