The science that deals on the study of height is known as auxology. Right from time immemorial, height has been associated with one's level of dominance, one's nutritional status and likeability. Certain workplaces list height as a criterion for job enrolment and promotion.
Studies have shown that the quality of life of a people and their standard of living affect how tall or short they are. Men that consume more protein-based foods tend to be taller than men whose staple foods are more of cereals than proteins. A persons height cannot be fully achieved under poor nutrition quality and inadequate medical care.

So we woman are shorter coz we have this gene in our X chromosome for shortness.

Okay, it's not really that hard to explain. Calories were a limited resource up until a few centuries ago. Women who had the same calorie intake as a man couldn't keep a baby alive due to limited calorie resources. Since only smaller women survived to pass on the genes, only the men who were attracted to smaller women survived as well. Only the women that were attracted to larger men survived because they were able to provide more calories for their babies. That's why the sizes were different. Because of the scarcity of calories and the mechanics of creating a child. It's not a mystery. In a thousand years, there won't be as much of a difference likely since calories are not a limiting factor to survival and reproduction.

It also depends if mother in father are also tall if their boats over 6' most likely the daughter will be tall as well

Pardon my ignorance but I've always wondered ¿Why the vast majority of people from Guatemala lack height? ¿Why are they so short? When it comes to men vs women height in guatemala the man is usually taller I would say about 15% of men are same height as women, but that's a whole other topic/observation which I find interesting (which I'm pretty sure I'll never find the answer to because freakin google search results are 😤COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT😡, buuuuht that's also another topic haha😳) Anyway, their height tends to be between 4'2 - 5'0 anything beyond that range is considered to be "very tall"...lol

It's a question I asked long ago when I was in high school. The answer was genetics. Girls mature faster than boys to prepare them for motherhood. But then reach puberty, estrogen really starts to flow in and stuns their growth height. It priorities other develops such as the breast tissue and begins to expand the hip bones -- again, for motherhood. I suppose Mother Nature knows a shorter body is better on a balance level of producing offspring. I can see how that would keep mothers better in balance when walking around. Scandinavian women and some black women of Africa grow to 5'9", which is past the average height of men around 5'8". Also, hormones in the chicken will inflate a females breasts faster, as will alcohol. Scandinavian women drink beer, which increases estrogen levels, thus inflating their breasts even more is why they have big gorgeous boobies. Regardless, it's nature focusing on females to be mothers. You don't have to be a mother to anyone, but nature is just staging you just in case you want to, is all.

Taller men for protecting the females is understandable ... but how do males choose their partner?

I bet that it has something to do with smaller females being earlier fertile and producing more healthy babies or something in that way.
