I’ve never seen a player become better the angrier they became. Usually, frustration breaks your focus but Serena’s frustrations always made her hyper-focus. A true gift! Steffi and Serena taught us that you be calm and quiet like Steffi or loud and insane like Serena; as long as you’ve got your focus, most times you will win.

Growing up mid 70’s 80’s and 90’s in Compton Ca, I use to take my toddler students for a walk in Compton Blvd and the park was in the corner seeing the Williams sisters practicing so young, the Dad would have lots of 🎾 balls and he was tough on them, it pay off at the end 🫶🏽👏🏼 love watching the Williams sisters play 🎾 tennis ❤#1

Serena never gets credit for her high tennis IQ. The obvious shot for most players would have been down the line on the run rather than a crosscourt shot right into your opponent's strength. However, Serena knows that Kerber is a lefty and her backhand is her weaker side. So going crosscourt makes much more sense in this particular matchup, especially as Kerber already struggled to return the previous backhand shot. Genius!

The greatest female athlete🤩🤩, it is why i love tennis and played the sport in high school a d continue to play when not working. Going to miss watching her and hopefully some day my new fav active female tennis players Coco Gauff & Jessie Pegula can get to Serena level of tennis. Got a long way to go but i got time to wait for that :))
