Ever since getting my hands on the original Boss Katana 50 I’ve thought a bass amp should be added to the line. Well, they went and did the the obvious so of course im going to check it out. Huge thanks to Sweetwater for providing me with the Boss Bass Katana and the Danelectro Longhorn, I promise Ill do my best to become somewhat ok at playing bass.

It's actually a good thing you're into the "deep, dark" sounds on bass. If you're going to play it to accompany yourself on recordings, then your bass can occupy that space and stay out of the way of your bright and twangy guitar leads.

I still think you should make a shirt that says “Is this a good video?” I feel like it’s your new motto.

i spent a more recent 7 years as primarily a bass player in a band, after only playing guitar in bands prior... and the whole time i basically insisted i wasn't a bass player. maybe a few years ago, i kinda admitted to also being kind of a bass player. my preferred bass tones are usually dirty and brighter than the purists like, which is entirely due to being a guitar player... so shout out to all the NOT A BASS PLAYER bassists!

This is my first video watching you and i gotta say, you saying the set is built in your garage and showing a pic of the camera placement is so endearing and I love it

The idea with the blend control is that if you use a lot of distortion with bass the low end can go away. So you blend the non-distorted clean signal in to get those lows back. Most bass distortion pedals have a blend for the same reason.

I dig the low-end footprint on this. Torn between this Katana and a TC Electronic BH-550 - oh what to do.

Think what you want, I don't even need to watch the video to know I want one. If it's Boss, its good!

I am a bass player and I welcome you to the club, there’s no rules, if it sounds good it is good, your aloud to play however you want and drowned yourself in FX! I suggest you take the inspiration your feeling from that synth bass and start an experimental band where you let the FX inspire your writing. Get outside your comfort zone! 😎

I totally agree with you about the "sometimes you need new gear to just keep playing and keep practicing to improve" or something like that.

Who is this imposter and what has he done with Ryan?! I have a feeling his name's Bryan (bass Ryan)

I must say, of all the videos that I have watched, this is definitely one of them.

I wanna hear some regular guitars through that amp! It's got a tweeter, right? Should be interesting.

After digging a bit more I discovered that the 60 watt Katana is 2 pounds heavier than my Fender rumble 500 which is currently priced at around $650, the same as the 2x10 Katana.

Springsteen has been at the forefront of guitar and bass processing for years. Imagine, these effects and amps AND that catalog, what a legacy!

I'm primarily a guitar player, it's what I started on. But when i first picked up a bass it just felt right in my hands! I play with my fingers, (pick is ok too!) Les Claypool and Geddy Lee inspired me. I have an Ampeg pf500 but don't have a cab right now, had a Hartke 410xl cab but the speakers were trash! But can play with headphones without a cab. Anyway love this video and that amp seems like a lot of fun!

Class A/B is about 3X more power output than class D. When compared to a "typical" bass amp, this model would be compared to anything in the 150-200w range. (great for practice/ small venue)
The 210 will push right along with a 500w unit.

The “reality” of your set is forever shattered. (Over head, cam rigging)You should put blue screen backgrounds, in your videos and “film” in exotic places. Great reviews man! Always love your videos! Keep up the good work.

I'm not generally a fan of modeling amps. IMO it's better to have a more basic (affordable) practice amp and get your effects from a pedal, like a multieffect. That way, you can keep your effects when you upgrade to a more powerful gigging amp.
