Today, I'll address some of the most common doubts that are holding back artists who are new to digital art. I'll also share some motivational tips to help you make progress and have success with digital art. While I talk, I'll also show my process of a 1 Hour portrait study I illustrated on my Wacom Cintiq 16 with Krita using the Loomis method of drawing heads.

I agree 100% that there are large benefits to certain brands. Longevity, stability & other features. I personally think the people who get irritated about it tend to be more in a 'victim' state of mind, or perhaps even they've accepted the roadblock as an excuse to just not do it. I personally did artwork for a couple of years with a crap computer and a tablet that had ZERO pressure sensitivity and was still able to produce artwork that clients were excited about. So there's really no excuse. Just gotta do it. :)

To be perfectly fair you and a few other artists I watch that do reviews helped me decide on my next advancement in my work from a basic 80 tablet for almost 10 years to the wacom one on screen . I am a single mother and dont have a lot of cash as I am also self employed but watching ure reviews helped me avoid not only buyers regret but encouraged me to do daily drawings so that I can constantly improve my works . Just wanted u to know from a long time subscriber that you do help alot of people just some of us might not realize it . Thank you for all the hard work you do on the channel man.

When I first started I had the doubt that people wouldn't like my art because I thought it wasn't good enough. The thing is to share it because is not about them but about me and what I love. Now I share them and now I'm more confidant doing so. :)

Thank you for this video! I wanted to start digital art because I'm making a Visual Novel with my friend, and recently got my Intuos Draw 3 days ago and I was struggling with questions 3 and 10. I know it is really anticipated but most people (including me) believes that "just because you have a drawing tablet, you instantly turn good".

Seems that more practice and dedication it's the real secret.

1:32 Although I'm still new to Digital Art, I have to agree that investing on a proper that'll last and works for you is very important, from experience, I tried to cheap out by getting a Wacom Intuos Small, just to end up getting a Cintiq Pro 13 anyway, the Intuos Small is simply too small for my hands when my palm is constant hanging at the edge, making it uncomfortable in long drawing session. As for choosing between Tablet and Pen Display, personally, while tablet works fine for normal drawings, if you're looking for speed (as someone coming from traditional pen & paper drawing), pen display is definitely the better option, as you spend less time guessing where your stroke is going between each movement, albeit little, but it does add up over long drawing session.

Sometimes people need to learn to save. It took me a while to save up for my intuos pro, but, I did it. We all have bills and responsibilities, but, it can be done.

Thanks Aaron. I wanted the 27 QHD Cintiq when I decided to do digital art but bought a Huion H610 Pro tablet because (1) being disabled on a fixed income, I just couldn't afford it, and (2) my old 2006 model HP computer is 32 bit so Wacom is out for now. I bought a $70 Huion tablet that, while it's not the smoothest or most responsive, has allowed me to produce a couple of paintings that I'm rather proud of.

My biggest obstacle to overcome with digital art is the fact that I wasn't very good at drawing on paper, or painting with a brush before I jumped into the digital world. I'm having to get used to the tablet, learn the painting programs, and learn proper drawing and painting techniques all at once. Thanks to your videos and courses, I've come a long way since November so a HUUUGE THANK YOU for what you do. I'm looking forward to the next one! 👍👍

I paint on my Asus laptop that turns into a tablet and it works fine. I'm illustrating my children book right on it. Budget :)

I'm trying to get into digital art for the first time and I watched your video about the small and medium wacom tablets and I quite liked it. It is a little bigger than my original budget but a small wacom tablet from what you've said will last a long time and if I like digital art it'll save me money in the long run.

Hi Aaron ! I agree 100% !.. Thank you for being such a great help to many artists even the beginners because : " no !.. digital art is not easy !.. ", but as you learn riding a bicycle on a budget bicycle, as you bild your muscles and abilities to ride, the " top of the line " equipment will be dedicated and at your disposal when the time has come for you to " shine " !.. everyone has a different path to take... I've learned a lot from you Aaron (not only from you of course ... ) from your YouTube channel, from your courses and every advice you give is a step to go Forward !.. to grow !.. Thank you Aaron ! 👍💖 🕊

Hi Aaron, I see myself in a few of these thoughts. I originally found your channel while looking for reviews when purchasing my first tablet. I have continued to watch your videos as I progress and appreciate when you take the time to cover this kind of reflection on self doubt.

I just bought my first tablet and all though I did watch reviews, on which tablets were recommended. The final decision was made simply by going over my own preferences and budget. I was looking at one Tablet that cost $200 (no display), $600 (display) or $1500 (display + keybinds). I took into consideration what was most important to me. For me it was important that my Tablet was medium sized and had a display, so the $200 was knocked out. Than I considered how much money I could afford to spend and felt comfortable spending, and whether or not some features that came with the more expensive one were absolutely necessary. In the end I went with the $600 because it had what I wanted, and felt that I needed for getting myself started. Didn't mean I had the perfect Tablet with all the features I could hope for, but It had what I considered most important and affordable.
People have to remember, reviews are important but you also have to take in to account your own likes and dislikes, and not just choose something because a person recommends something as being the best or one of the best. Thinking about what features you find important and what features you can live without, especially for getting started is most important. I use reviews more or less to see if what I'm getting is a quality item as far as longevity and these types of things... No one wants to spend money on something that's going to break within a year.

Thank you for these fine advices!
I started drawing with a genius 500, the cheapest I could afford when I was in high school. But now I'm back with a Wacom. Be patient to yourselves, guys. When I had lag, I just ignored it and kept writing or drawing like if it was a piece of paper. BE PATIENT.
