20 years ago, radiographers were banned from palpating the symphysis pubis which meant guess work rather than accuracy. Other medical professionals are able to touch the symphysis pubis. If we asked a patient if they wanted accuracy or guess work, they would want the best job possible. I would always warn and always begin by finding ASIS. You are working with a machine that will not allow you to extend collimation beyond the borders of the collector which is amazing and puts you ahead of all older machines and operators of machines. Use the light as your positioning guide. Don't use centering points. That will close a learning feedback loop between expectation and outcome. As an abdomen xrays, yours failed to match the ideal shown because it didn't put symphysis pubis on the bottom of the image. An extra view or repeat view would be required for it to satisfy the criteria
