Keep America strong---on the land, on the sea and in the air.

It looks like something from star wars, which honestly makes it look even scarier

Hasn't the Zumwalt class of ship been declared a financial and design disaster and waste of money ? I thought the program was halted because of constant issues and failures.

chinese ships are a little stealth. zumwalt sacrificed everything for stealth, including the whole zumwalt program.

The stacks were composite and the glue melted under high heat, the ammo was too expensive they were gunna use magnetic rail guns never ended up happening
The ship yard lost parts for the other ships and kept borrowing and left the last ship as a “black hole” due to not having the parts it needed it just sat there for years these ships will never see combat only offshore training exercises iv seen a comment saying “wasn’t this project a complete waste of money and time” that person is 100% correct the only thing it had going for it was only being detected as a 35ft fishing vessel on radar

The new destroyers remind me of a hybrid Civil War era ironclad.

I swear they completely cancelled the zumwalt project because they said it was far to expensive.

This is a great example of building something to do everything that ends up being able to do nothing

"Zumwalt’s Advanced Gun System didn’t work well, with two-thirds the forecast range (around 70 miles). Its rocket-boosted LRLAP GPS-guided shells cost $800, 000 dollars each—nearly as expensive as more precise, longer-range and harder-hitting cruise missiles. The Navy finally canceled the insanely expensive munitions, leaving the Zumwalt with two huge guns it can’t fire."

Short answer: We spend way too much money on war.

I still think you can’t beat the look of a WW2 era destroyer.

Russian and Chinese ships such as the Gorshkov class frigates and the Type 055 destroyers are built in a limited stealth way, they aren't fully stealth as the Zumwalts, but they do have some stealth technologies.
The design on the Zumwalt class was also used so that the ship would pierce through the waves instead of riding them like the flare hull design ships. This inverted hull design was used in the 1862 Monitor, and it provides a more stable gun platform, as the Zumwalt class was conceived as a gun destroyer to replace the battleships in the shore bombardment role, this gun destroyer design is the reason for which the hull identification number is 1000 instead of following Arleigh Burke's chronology, as the Zumwalts would be the successors for the Spruance class destroyers. DD-997 and DD-998 were originally planned to be part of the Kidd class but they were cancelled, if built, the USS Hayler would have received the hull identification number DD-999 instead of the DD-997 she received

I think it’s great that you’re giving this information to the enemy. Very intelligent person.

That's why US ships have plaques in them that say "In God we trust, all others we track"
