Aquamarine is a 2006 American fantasy romantic comedy film directed by Elizabeth Allen, loosely based on the 2001 young adult novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman. It stars Emma Roberts, Joanna "JoJo" Levesque, and Sara Paxton. The film was released in the United States on March 3, 2006, by 20th Century Fox.

Plot: A mermaid gets stranded at a beach resort but falls in love with a handsome lifeguard. She befriends two local girls and enlists their help to win his heart in exchange for a wish.

I remember watching severance and thinking why does dichen lachman seem so familiar to me? Turns out i still remember her face from this film because i used to watch it so much. And i had never seen her in anything else (im now aware that shes been in neighbours. Wild!) So it looked from my perspective like they picked her from aussie small town obscurity lol. But obviously shes had a more extensive filmography beyond 'mean girl' in aquamarine lol.
