I’m really happy you mentioned both people who have fallen off of the unemployment statistics and the underemployed. It’s important when hearing about the “unemployment rate” to take this single metric with a grain of salt.

Geniune question: where would seasonal employment (unemployment) fit in? Maybe, structural?

Some jobs (eg. landscaping, snow plow operator) are only needed for part of the year, so at the end of the season the jobs aren't needed anymore. I know folks who make it work by stringing together various seasona jobs

A recession is when your neighbor or friend becomes unemployed. A depression is when you become unemployed.
