How do ACE inhibitors increase ACE2 receptor expression? One would think inhibiting the ACE2 receptor would competitively inhibit the virus.

Any chance of addressing the effect that viral disruption of angiotensin II has on the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone-System, and downstream effects in regards to kidney function on the rest of the body?
(I suspect that's why there's a long list of symptoms because of how the blood and other organs in the body depend upon it.)

I have a question I'm hoping you will answer... Why do we not need annual vaccination against mumps, measles, etc, but we do for flu, when all are RNA based viruses? What allows some to mutate at a rate that causes us to need annual vaccination, while another we can gain lifelong immunity with just a few injections? What are your thoughts on the likelihood of annual vaccination against SARS COV2 & it's mutation potential? Thanks in advance! And thank you for doing these videos!!

Nice summary. RAAS inhibitors might increase the risk by upregulating the ACE receptors, but they also decrease the effect of angiotensin. So no need to drop it for users.

Hi Doctor! What do you think about the possible relationship between not had being vaccinated against polio and an increase in the risk of having COVID-19?

Glad you covered this research, but there are some technical questions that confused me when I read the papers. Can you clear it up?

1. Are diabetics (esp T1D, MODY) who do not require ACEi or ARB treatment also at higher risk? The studies seem to say that the blanket statement of *all* diabetics at high risk is incorrect.

2. Are the papers saying that inhibiting ACE2 eventually increases its expression as an adaptation or that simply those already taking the drugs have over-expression?

3. Papers seem to say ACE2 inhibition (but not if the ACEi causes the body to over-express??) will make it hard for SARS to spread.
But that high ACE2 is protective of the lungs, helping to avoid the serious ARDS complications. So to inhibit it in the early stage or as a prophylactic, but promote it if lung issues worsen. Is that also your interpretation?

The 4-5 papers I read on this are contradictory or ambiguous on these points, and it needs to be addressed.

I started on Lisinopril and all of my covid symptoms came back after being symptom free for 5 weeks. Now a month after trying lisinopril which I am no longer taking I can barely get out of bed for more than 30 min. Im dizzy, light headed, brain fogged, weak and lethargic. Anxiety is really bad as well. They are saying its long haul covid, but I was fine till I tried lisinopril. Not sure what to do, something is wrong with me.

If SARS Cov-2 uses angiotensin receptors, then, isn't arbs gonna block those receptor and make things better? CDC's statement seems self contradictory.

Isn't SARScov2 not the same as COVID 19????

the elephant in the room not even mentioned: why is hypertension the highest co morbidity? (could be the meds). obviously no one should stop hypertension meds, but why not talk to your doctor about switching to an alternate med

My wife had Covid-19. At the time we just thought it was the Flu. But she recently took the antibodies test and she tested positive. So it was not the Flu but Covid-19 that she had 1 1/2 months ago. I also took the antibodies test and I was not positive. I never got Covid-19. I was for sure I had to being husband and wife. I never got sick like she did though. I take Lisinopril for my high BP. Maybe it helped?
