The February 2, 2023, edition of CBC's At Issue sees the panel's Althia Raj taking very strong issue with political parties weaponizing religion to score political points while attempting to undercut their opponents. The topic at hand is Justin Trudeau's appointment of Amira Elghawaby as Canada’s first Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia. The appointment was met with much pearl-clutching "hurt" and political theatre in Quebec. Elsewhere on the panel, Chantal Hébert provides her usual 'Quebec can do no wrong' nationalist rhetoric, while Andrew Coyne points to the the uncomfortable fact that Quebec does have higher levels of Islamophobic sentiment than other parts of Canada.
