I am a customer with an A1 that I raised a ticket with Bambu on and have received an update to the ticket which does state that all A1 printers should not be used, didn’t really effect me as my printer was already unusable due to tripping breakers.

I have one Bambulab A1 (my first one because I have several Creality printers), I installed the cover but, when I removed it to check the cable, I found a crack. Now my printer is plunged off from the plug. I opened the ticket and they told me not to use it. I hope that they give us a solution soon. Greetings from Spain.

yeah, that cable break, and subsequent burn is quite a way from the strain relief.
One thing I've noticed with some of the equipment coming from China is that power carrying conductors seem to be a bit on the thin side, I'm not discussing the differences between the AWG and world standard cable so much, but I've already seen a few pieces of equipment that I've ordered from across that pond where I had to immediately upgrade the cables provided to meet USA electrical code because they tended to push cable sizes beyond their current limit as listed in the NEC.
Considering the wear and tear given on this particular cable, the wire gauges should be oversized, with a high strand count to account for the mechanical stress

What annoys me greatly is the crickets from other 3d printing channels that flooded YouTube with "reviews" the second this machine was released. No doubt they took their commissions on sales of the machines. So far, many of the big channels have said nothing on this matter after it being known for around 1 week. Either they have no conscience or are very, very ignorant. Happy to take their pound of flesh but have no regard for the community they claim to admire and champion. I am quite disappointed in several channels I follow who have failed to say anything on this matter.

Thank you . I just opened my A1-Combo box and confirmed no kink in the cable, but after seeing the video where they shared the "internal" Bambu email I left the a1 in the box and plan to return it.. Now seeing your video I'm definately returning the A1. Shame on Bambu Labs . how does that expression go "You get what you pay for"

They should make the cable removable. It would make this a lot easier. Just replace everyone's cables.

18:35 i call a bs for the so called appliances. My dad fixes them and he sees melted wires, plastic, heating elements that almost cut on fire. And no manufacturers recalls them. Every one cutting corners now days.

I just bought an A1 combo last Thursday at micro center in Dallas while I was down there to pick up a very large resin printer. I have yet to receive an email or notification from either Bambu or micro center. I’ve been asked why I do t just return it to micro center for a full refund, because the nearest micro center is 300 miles away……..

However upon inspecting the cable I have no “visible” signs of stress and am hoping they engineer and can swap the machine out somewhat quickly since I think the cable is a time bomb waiting to go off.

THANKS! finally someone who tells the truth! the influencers who wonderfully promote the a1 have been silent for some time... I subscribe and I would be a loyal listener.
The day Bambu revealed the problem on their blog, I received my a1. My worst purchase ever...

Ok, so this is NOT an official recall, because they can't expect to only send out an email to their PAID SPONSORS to ensure THEY tell their audiences to no longer use the A1.
The normal consumers who are no watching youtubers, should be made aware as well, which is far majority.
So again, huge lawsuits against BambuLabs will happen if this is how they are handling it and claiming this is an official recall lol.
Just doesn't make any sense

Simple solution; this should have been a right angled exit. I used to run a small business providing high quality hand made portable audio cables world wide and I used to provide a lifetime guarantee, so I think I can speak from experience. I had a single cable returned damaged in the nearly 10 year run of doing it and it was because his rig had fallen out of his bag, while downhill mountain biking, so wasnt any kind of manufacture defect. I still repaired it, free of charge (actually it was just replaced with a new one) I was able to do this because I potted the inside of connectors and used right angle exit where possible; even if that meant fabricating my own connector housings with cast polymer. given the direction of the cable routing here, it would be a perfect candidate. right angle exit and yes, thickest, almost rigid mount right at the exit of the boot and then staggered thickness of rubber/heatshrink, so that there is no abrupt change in constraint.

I just finished the video and saw your future Grants, and yes I agree with you, that’s pretty shoddy engineering, Bambu will take a hit on this, but I’m hopeful they will fix this.

EDIT: I typed this comment out before I got to the cable teardown section... that live wire looks a lil thin, but that depends on how much amps it pulls (i think, I'm not an electirctian but I know just enough to be a danger to myself lol)

I don't know if it's just because I'm from the UK, and used to 240v being the standard here in literally everything, but I honestly don't see any issue in replacing the cable myself if needed. (we learn how to re-wire 240v plugs/extension leads in school).

I also threw out the box, so if I do decide to RMA i have no idea how I'll be able to send it back....

Oh wow, we've been watching this unfold and trying to sidestep any overreactions, but at this point I have to agree with your stance, small risk of fire is still too much to risk. Are the beds mains powered then ? I'm not familiar with Bambu's out of my price range and I try to avoid walled gardens.

the rare occasions when a prusa cought on fire prusa sends technician to the location of fire with 1 exception due covid. And that one exception Joseph prusa contacted that person directly in 23 min of their post. With bambu you get a blog post lol

So Bambu just gave you 3 reasons why they are going to try and get out of refunding everyone. the first one is shipping and I see them claiming the shipping company and making them pay. 2&3 they are going to blame the printer owner for their neglect. I'm not a lawyer lol but If your printer is the cause of your house fire and you know about this soft recall they don't have to payout. I just see this all going sideways.

I have so many conflicting emotions on this, which I think has stemmed from years of 3D printer manufacturers just shitting out printers with issues and moving past it without fixing or even acknowledging it, just moving on and releasing another printer, looking at you Creality. I have found myself praising Bambu lab for even acknowledging an issue exists like others without actually thinking to myself that, this is another very serious issue! We as consumers need to stop letting these manufacturers get away with selling us untested machines and even praising them when they go wrong!

9:35 but you are not opening the PSU itself, so if you unplug the device from the wall there is the danger exactly? no voltage on HV terminals, and LV might be present but it is only 24V

Im trying to fill out a ticket and its asking for an order id when i bougjt my printer from microcenter now what?!

Just wish they’d offer refunds, I’ve had mine for just over 2 weeks now and expressed interest in just returning for a refund and they shut it down, luckily microcenter will take the ones I bought from them even though they are 38 days old.
