We can make a gadget tough, we can make it powerful, AND we can make that affordably.
[Lex was REALLY excited to help me shoot this review. "You WANT me to spray a TABLET with a HOSE?!?!?!"]

Awesome review! Your video was so detailed and convincing—I couldn’t resist and just placed my order for the TANK Pad. Can’t wait to try it out! Thanks for the great content!

What a sweet bargain! Wow 😮! That's like a dream tablet for tough conditions. IR blaster, projector, and 21, 000 battery capacity, now that's a sweet deal. And plus it is water resistance. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾 6:29 I never thought that that day will come, that I will see an actual projector on a tablet. Now that's crazy! 😮 10:21 it's truly audacious, and it is also a better idea than a phone form factor.

Those specs are so attractive, I'm tempted to EDC it instead of a regular smartphone 😂

I work in a wood shop, and I go through reams of paper doing drawings and cutlists. It’s really quite wasteful. I would like to switch to a tablet and cut down on the paper and ink, but I don’t think an average tablet would last a week with the dust and accidental abuse.

But this tablet looks interesting. I would like it better if it had a more usable aspect ratio - 16:10 or 3:2 - but I’m still tempted by it.

Wonder what the connection is between 8849 and Unihertz. When you mentioned the tank phone, i searched for it on my tablet and came up with a Unihertz listing. Having looked at 8849's site and Unihertz, only difference I can see is the branding, and both companies are in Shanghai, albeit at different addresses.

I am impressed by this! Damn man. Yeah this would be great for Vanlife! It's pricey though!
Happy holidays, buddy!

They really packed a lot in this tablet for that price. I was expecting it to cost at least 3x more than that.

I've been binging your Tank coverage lately because they're interesting. I don't need a rugged phone; but, I would like something a little tougher than the usual glass sandwich. The main reason I want one, Tank phone or tablet, is because of the big battery and the integrated projector. Ironically, I watched this video on a phone that's hooked up to a projector...

I really want a Titan, Unihertz's keyboard phone for business, with the 20k mAh battery and the projector. It doesn't need to be any more rugged than the normal Titan, which is already pretty rugged IIRC. That would be great for texting and I could see the projector being useful for impromptu office presentations. Or for watching "Some Gadget Guy" on the wall when nobody is around. ;-)

Make a proper protective case for it that has a entire tiny home built into it, with a series of folding panels for the floor and has inflatable mylar walls and roof, and the backplate can be for heating and cooking as a hotplate, or for summer use to power the peltier cooling system. We can bump up the battery capacity to 300 years with a thin wafer of thorium. For field and home use, at the same time!

I didn't see the weight or size listed on the website. Is the screen 4:3, with a 10.5inch diagonal screen? That price, the battery size, the storage and its ruggedness make it really attractive for mobile use, even if I don't need the projector much. I don't need the phone much either but messaging capability is good. Chunky is good here, when most phones and tablets are slippery when wet.

Thanks for the info.

3 months later, it is down to $599. I like the battery size, dual SIM plus SD card, audio jack. Even before the waterproofing, LED flashlight and projector...it's looking good!

Great analysis. Rugged tablets make a lot of sense and allows for "more stuff" to be stuffed in it. Im assuming that the cost of screens must have drooped dramatically bc i can't fully understand why boost the cost of materials with a 120hz screen but the kid mode is a very welcome addition

Personally would have liked to pay for a lil more processing (just bc id hope this can last 7-8 years in the field). No need for a X elite or anything like that but for essentially "100 bucks a year" it's still a good deal

Is it possible to upgrade the speakers by self? Or upgrade the device later?

I didn't catch if you mentioned it, but is that square indentation in the back some kind of mount?

If so, is it proprietary?

I kinda want a reason to need this. Looks hella fun.
