Having a mentor that looks like you is SO important!

A lot of pharmacists will not mentor new pharmacists right out of school. Their attitude is "I got mine, you get yours." When I first worked for a chain an older pharmacist I worked with for a few weeks warned me about this attitude and tried to help me while I was with him. When I was transferred to another in the chain I found what he said to be oh so true. I could not ask a question about the chain's way of doing things without getting laughed at, eye rolled for just ignored. They were not willing to teach or mentor thinking someone was going to get ahead. The attitude of the experienced pharmacists black or white was the same.
