Yeah, smoke detector right above the stove/oven is the way to do it. Also, there are thieves, so it may be advised to place a bit of wall at the end of the sidewalk and put burglar alarms over there too to get triggered as soon as they appear.

Oh my god I forgot about the magic on this game I had a modded imortal old guy that was a high level magician it was fun af and the magic world was nice because you could hop in and sleep there and eat for free

You needed an oven to make food, otherwise you can only get snacks from the fridge. You should always get at least a couple of points in cooking before using it though else... fire.
