The Rail Zeppelin was a railcar designed by Franz Kruckenberg in 1929, powered by a wooden aircraft propeller at the rear, i.e. in pusher configuration. The Rail Zeppelin, which Kruckenberg called the "flight track car", was only built in one example. It set a world speed record of 230.2 km/h, which stood for 24 years. However, this technology was not pursued further and the Rail Zeppelin was scrapped in 1939.

Pretty sure they weren't allowed to make military aviation type of gear back then. This seems like a clever way to skirt around regulations while testing aviation technology 🤔

Even German train in 1929 is faster than my country current 2024 train (230km/h vs 90km/h) .

No, that is not "shinen zeplin". That is a "Schienenzeppelin".

This looks like that train called Hugo which we saw in Thomas and friends 😂

Wow, even in the 20s, the design for a high speed train (minus the spinning blades of doom) looks very similar to what countries use in high speed applications, namely, the shinkansen.

Legend has it that Hermann Goering, hired Hans Von Ohain to fit a jet engine on it, and Horten brothers to attach it a delta wing on .

That type of locomotive is reserved strictly for train FANS! 😅

The simplest way to make this thing so much as appear to be more “safe” would’ve been to put a duct around the propeller. Unfortunately, this train pre-dates (modern) jet engines, and ducted fan technology was essentially in its infancy. The Coandă-1910 was more a ducted fan than a proper jet engine, and the Stipa-Caproni (which was essentially a ducted fan) wasn’t made until 3 years after this train was created.

It's so weird watching modern bullet train design in old black and white video 😂
