I read something interesting about febreeze recently. Apparently the first kind they made had no scent so it just smelled like nothing and consumers thought it didn't work so then they made one with a scent. 😂 they still sell unscented, though. I thought it was interesting how we are conditioned to think that "clean" smells a certain way, like an actual scent, instead of just smelling like nothing.

Yeah, these were great tips. About those disinfecting wipes: yes, what you said was true, but the main way they work on a table top or counter, according to my microbiologist friend, is that the cloth picks up the bacteria and viruses, and the solution breaks through the virus' outer defense to kill them later -- when they are on the wipe in the trash can. It takes about as long to work as if we spray a counter with a disinfectant and wait for it to work before we wipe it up and throw it away. The last way insures more virus/bacteria are killed, but for most of us, a quick wipe will move most of them off the surface -- one surface per cloth, so as to not spread what was on one surface to another surface. Hand washing is similar. The soap does not kill a virus, but rather clings to it so we can rinse it off our hands and down the sink. Just FYI. Love your channel.

I saw a comment on a different youtuber''s channel where a man claimed that using vinegar on the front of his stainless steel refrigerator caused it to pit the surface of his NEW refrigerator. Best practice is to consult the manufacturer's instructions. I think Cas's other suggestions are spot on. My firefighter brother would also add clean the dryer filter after EVERY load. Whenever I am tempted to not get that lint out, I hear his voice telling me how many dryer fires they respond to. Over 1 million subscribers! Congrats!

The best air freshner I have found is to open the window. I open all bedroom and bathroom windows every morning for at least an hour.

My washing machine service tech recommended using vinegar in the fabric softener compartment of the washing machine. He said it cleans the washing machine extending its life. It more thoroughly removes detergent, leaving clothes softer without damage from fabric softener which erodes the fibres and makes them look dull and worn out. He also advised using less detergent than manufacturers recommend. I have to agree his advice was gold!
Sanitise sheets, towels etc by hanging in the sunshine. Here in Australia we only tend to use dryers I wet weather or if we live in units . Generally we have a yard or space for a clothes line .
I make my bed open a couple of days each week, especially in the hot weather. I smooth out the bottom sheet and neatly fold back the top sheet and blanket /doona so it looks tidy. I like to put our pillows in the sunshine each day for a couple of hours when possible to dry and deodorise them .

You don't need antibacterial soap for hand aoap at the sink. Regular soap works just fine.. It's how long you scrub your hands and how vigorously you scrub them. My doctor told me that years ago. She said that all the overuse of anti bacterial is not good and it's making people sicker because it kills the good bacteria too, since it kills all bacteria. She recommended ditching it and using regular soap but singing the A.B C song when you wash your hands and vigorously rub them together instead.

When I was out of town once my college & HS age children started cleaning the wood banisters & continued to use “Pledge” to clean the wood entry floors! During family Xmas gathering 4 months later, all the teen cousins loved skating in their socks…. Yup, even after 4months it was still slick enough to purposefully slide in socks!

I just donated 6 bags of clothes, lots with tags. When I say 6, I’m not talking about lil bags, girl we’re talking black lawn bags filled! Hubby had to carry them, they were so heavy. Thank you Cas for giving me permission to clear them out. I retired over a year ago and will never need those fancy business casual clothes, so hopefully someone that needs them can enjoy.
