The books of today don't have anywhere near the style and beauty of vintage books. the further back you go the more decorative they are. especially old bibles. they have some really great artwork in them.

To find a vintage book with intricate illustrations inside is magic itself! Also, those Sherlock Holmes pieces are lovely!

The Swiss Family Robinson book is a part of a huge collection called the Junior Deluxe editions! They all have such charming and cute colors and covers. Since they are not too rare, they are fun to collect. Cool finds!

So pretty and SO OLD! It's crazy to think of the people who must have read these. And yay for more Sherlock! I've only read A Study in Scarlet, which I loved, and I'm itching to get reading more.

I found some super old books in my old bookshelf in my den that I havent really touched in years....I found a ton of books that were so old and apart of so many vintage editions from the 60s. It was so awesome, they were all classics and illustrated!!!

Beautiful book haul esp the Robinson book, it looks so very vintage. What was the price range for these books? Also, if you wanna display the books instead of shelving, I love LittleBookOwl's square floating shelf with stuffed animals and books and things.

1. What's your favorite cereal?
2. What was your first celebrity crush?
3. What character(s) do you relate to in film/tv/book?
4. Who do you love to hate in film/tv/book?
5. What are your guilty pleasures(reality tv, a book, a food item..)

I haven't read any of the sherlock books yet. The best tip for getting books read is just to keep reading! I have over 500 books on my to-read list.

The hound of the baskervilles started my love for mystery novels, I loved it! Great haul!

Great books!  I saw about 30 of the Little Leather Library books at a thrift store but they wanted to much.  Keep your eye out for those!  BTW, love how filled your bookshelf is!

"The Last Days of Pompeii" was a 19th century best-seller. Its reputation lasted well into the early 1900s. It was made into a spectacular silent film starring Dorothy Gish. The last missing page is infuriating, but you should be able to find the book as a free e-text online. Bulwer-Lytton is infamous for beginning a novel with the sentence "it was a dark and stormy night".

Old books are fun but very few books, even very old books, are worth what you're paying for them. Collect them because you love them.

I have a few questions: (1) Where is your favorite spot to read? (2) Do you ever read out loud? and (3) What was your major and what is your career now? Thank you!!!
