Every gear change is smooth and the shifter feels easy to use. I still use the clutch from time to time, but even at slow speeds, the quickshifter engages and works well.

Good stuff. Most people don't realize what a giant PITA it is to make a video like this and get those camera angles just right. I debated on ordering an MT-09 SP, but might hold out for what I'm assuming will be a new XSR900 next year, based on this version of the MT-09. I have a 2016 XSR900 60th anniversary edition and it's probably my favorite bike of my current bunch. A new version of it with the quickshifter and hopefully other improvements is what I'm holding out for. Personally I just prefer the retro bikes.... also have a Kawi Z900RS Cafe, which I really really like too, but it's not quite up to the level of my XSR.

Put a deposit down last weekend. Hopefully get it in a few weeks mate! Never ridden or test rode one, but I’ve ridden the first gen quite a few times. So it’s safe to assume it’s gonna be better!

You have that too that sometimes from the first gear the quickshifter shifts the neutral gear instead of the second? The green up arrow is lit.

ze answer. I'm just driving my first 1000 km on my yamaha mt 09. I'm interested if when I jump in low gear I can do it without clutch and without gas or with gas? Thanks

I just received mine, still in break-in, the shifter is harder when I downshift, normal? Maybe it will get better after the first oil change, for the moment up is very smooth while down is quite hard. maybe it should be more in the revs for downshift ?

If I were to ride this bike exclusively in rain mode until I was a better rider, would this be a good first bike? I just finished my motorcycle safety course and the instructor had just purchased a new MT07, and he said the MT07 is a fine first bike. I was curious if the low power mode on the MT09 might make it more or less the same.
