Love Over Wealth
In today’s gospel, a rich young man asks Jesus how to inherit eternal life. Despite following the commandments, he feels he lacks something. Jesus redirects the conversation, focusing on God’s goodness rather than a formula. He invites the young man to let go of his possessions and embrace a new spirituality centered on love.
This can be challenging, as the rich man’s wealth is a significant barrier. Jesus compares this struggle to a camel trying to pass through a narrow gate. True fulfillment comes not from material wealth but from surrendering to God.
The first reading also emphasizes this theme, where a king chooses Wisdom over worldly riches and gains even more in return. Ultimately, choosing the One Love, which embodies Wisdom, allows us to release everything else and receive God’s abundant gifts.
