Tower Zero Huntington Beach Pier

TOWER 0

Also known as "The Eye in the Sky".

It operates from sun up to sun down all 365 days of the year providing water surveillance to keep the public safe when in the water at all times. Tower 0 serves as a look-out tower as well as a weather station, dispatch center, and supervises tower personnel whenever towers are open on the beach during summer season. Tower 0 also monitors boat traffic when vessels transit in the area. Tower 0 can serve as an important vital piece of communication to help organize resources in aquatic emergency situations. Tower 0 is staffed with highly trained lifeguard personnel who are trained to deploy off the pier to make an immediate rescue anywhere in the water near the pier and can also provide medical emergency response to anywhere on top of the pier or Ruby's diner.

I'm glad I came across this video. I grew up in HB, and surfed at the pier, the cliffs, and Bolsa Chica. Anywhere near the pier is where I like to be. I have always wondered what was in the tower at the pier. Because of a spinal cord injury in 2010 (not surfing related), I now surf with Life Rolls On, once a year, at Ninth Street, north of the pier.
