What do you do when you have a serious backcountry turboprop single that does its job so well—and is so well loved by the folks who fly it around the world? In the case of the Kodiak 100, you stretch it, and speed it up—while at the same time managing to make it more efficient—and quieter too. Join FLYING’s editor-in-chief Julie Boatman as she gets an introduction to the Daher Kodiak 900 upgraded utility turboprop both on the ground and in the air.

Kodiak 900 cabin with twin engines, Garmin G3000 avionics, and pressurization would be an awesome next airplane for Kodiak.

My favorite planes are
De Havilland Beaver.
Kodiak 900
King Air 350er.
[insert top biz jet here, like the Gulfstream VI]
They're just great planes.

I am just sad that the King Air performance tends to be not as good as some TBM models, which damages my pride.

The visuals are good and the video is informative. That said, you really need to learn how to mix your audio better. The music is way too loud and interferes with our ability to hear the narration. During the field audio, limiting voices to the left channel while keeping the music in the right ear at full volume made it almost impossible to understand the interviewee. His voice was buried in the mix. Please work on this. Music should be low, voices should be in both channels and not only centered in the mix but kept as loud and clear as possible. You can boost music when there’re no voices, but immediately reduced for voices. Wishing you all the best for your future efforts.
