The best part of digital simplex is SMS. If you need to send "private" messages this is probably the best way. Once it's sent it's gone. Only readable by the individual that has the correct tone, TS and CC.

Same goes for voice.

What could be so hard about putting in simplex channels? My company has 12 simplex for VHF and 4 on UHF.
