In this type of backup, the log records that have not been backed up are captured. This prevents data loss and maintains the log chain sequence.

The term, “tail” implies that it is the end of the log backup sequence.

If the database is damaged, it is recommended to create a tail-log backup to enable you to restore the database to the current point in time. A tail-log backup is used to capture all log records that have not yet been backed up. This will help in preventing any data loss and to keep the log chain complete.

I heard that we can't take tail log backup when database is in online. Is it? Please let me know

Sir, i have one doubt in many environments full backup gets maintained on magnetic tapes then in that case how can we manage to get the backup file coz in order to do this activity physical backup is required on drive then what will be the procedure

thank you. i have some clarification
1.if log file deleted or missed then can we restore our db with tail log
2.if db went to offline then can we can take tail log through sql commands.
3. if huge transaction happened after last t-log then can we take tail log and restore db
