So much truth here. I was broke at thirty as well, then I went to paramedic school and began to budget and plan. Now I am retiring at 54 years old and I'm financially independent. The sacrifices needed are only sustainable if you are looking forward to where you are headed.

My wife and I just paid all our credit cards debts last month . We are both in education sector making 6 figures each and we have increased our investments to 33 percent. Index funds, some growth mutual funds, treasuries, 403b, 529 and high yield savings. It is doable and you talked gems. This is inspiring and empowering. I became a millionaire after I quit my job, that became a multimillionaire a few years later.. the first million is the hardest, the second one comes fast, third even faster..ect

Once you get that snowball rolling it becomes large in a short time.

My major skill is stock investing and trading.. was a Computer Programmer for years, made a lot of money but never went anywhere.

I supported my man with his goals and helped him narrow down his vision. From saving more $ to distancing from people in his life that enable him with no ambition. I didnt ask for much and I wasnt expensive so he can reach his financial goals quicker. He decided to let me go because I was too good for him and he wanted to do things on his own without much accountability. He was chasing more money when the right woman couldve helped him reach goals quicker. Now I grow my own business while he works at a very stressful corporate job.
