The Super Bowl scorebug sucked… but what if it didn’t?

i think i speak for all of us when i say the cbs scorebug for super bowl 58 this year, missed the mark. so i spent the past couple weeks researching past scoreboards, and fixing the new one.

This is 10x better than the one used in the Super Bowl. Crazy how a company that probably has an entire team working on the graphics can create such a let down of a graphic and you did this for one video and just purely for our entertainment and created this masterpiece.

I really like the way it expanded both vertically and horizontally. I have always loved the boxy look to score bugs because they can get tucked into the corner of the screen nice and neat.

Lowkey the best scorebug was the NBC one in super bowl 52, Then they chose to fuck it up completely in super bowl 56.

looks sick! my only concern with it is that i feel like it takes up quite a big chunk out of the bottom left which could lead to viewers not being able to see receivers if they are behind the scoreboard

This design was great! It's not what I would have done but I enjoyed how you detailed your process and kept constraints from the real life project this was based on. You took it on like a real design brief and I think that's something to be proud of. The way you animated scorebug elements was special too. The animations were brief and smooth. Great work!

I like it. I wonder how it would work for the scoreboard to switch sides to always be in the offense’s backfield, or if that would be jarring. I only say that cause it could get in the way of an endzone corner catch.

imo, I think the advantage of a center scorebug is it doesn’t take the viewer too much away from the action that is happening on the center of the screen; only moving their perspective top and bottom instead of a corner scorebug — this is practically noticeable on bigger screens, public viewing.

Try moving your eyes from to bottom and comparing from moving diagonally from center to corner to see which is less strenuous to maneuver
